In the Renaissance Care and Rehab Center, a partial renovation project undertaken by The Gowanus Group, particular attention was paid to the colors and feel of the existing finishes. Existing brickwork and stone elements lent a certain rustic appeal to the building which we used to inspire our new design concept—particularly reflected in elements like wooden beams, barn doors, and plank construction. Throughout our renovation of the corridor flooring, ceilings and artwork, and the full remodel of the lobby and nurses’ stations, the creation of a seamless transition between old and new motivated all our design and construction choices.
